What it measures

Aggregate onchain capacity stress: a single read of the cost of and competition for using the relevant blockchain networks. It is OCAPACITY's flagship index — the OCAPACITY 10 in its v0 version.

Network and sources

Network: Multi-network: Ethereum, Solana, Tron, Bitcoin, BNB Chain, Base, Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche and Hyperliquid

Sources: Derived: correlation-weighted (CISS) aggregation of OCAPACITY's 10 constituent indices (does not consume external sources directly).

Cadence: Recomputed every ~12 s. Each constituent's index is homogenised to [0,1] by its empirical CDF (percentile vs its own history) and the subindices are aggregated by portfolio theory with time-varying EWMA cross-correlations; a constituent without fresh data (>5 min) is excluded and the weights are renormalized.

Methodology

Interpretive regimes

Thresholds calibrated by percentiles (p10 / p50 / p90) of this index's own distribution; while it accrues data it uses fixed cuts 25 / 50 / 75.

Declared limitations

v0 weights set editorially by activity relevance; formal governance (public inclusion criteria and scheduled rebalancing) is what turns this composite into the official OCAPACITY 10.
The composite's history begins when the constituents are live; the mempool/sampling ones cannot be reconstructed backward.
The published quality combines the worst constituent quality with fresh-weight coverage: a composite computed from half the universe says so in its own data.
